Small space, big design

Some of our communities have been carefully converted from offices, providing some studio spaces which are smaller than our larger one and two bedroom units.

With clever design, we have been able to make the most of our smaller spaces with purposeful zones for appliances and flexibility built in. Some of our tenants have used their creativity to take this one step further, using storage elements to create feature walls and room divides, as well as pop-up racks and rails for compact clothing holders.

Whatever your living space, we can provide design tips and ideas to make the most of your home and can share what other tenants have done too. In the meantime, here are some top tips we were given by an interior designer for smaller spaces:

  • Use colour and mirrors to create the feeling of light and space. (For instance, one of our tenants has put reflective materials on the windows and some walls to create more light.)

  • Put wallpaper on the ceilings to encourage depth and height to a room, as well as being a different and unique design.

  • Use smaller furniture that is raised from the floor, so that you can see more of the floor and the room doesn't look cluttered.

  • Create features from storage space. (One of our tenants has hung all of his hats in a design which is functional and looks great too.)
