Summer party brings joy & community to Abode Living Bristol

On Thursday 25 July, Abode Living and partners hosted a summer party for our residents on in Bristol. The event, attended by over 60 adults and children, marked the beginning of the summer holidays and was a heart-warming demonstration of community spirit, where families could join together to have fun and form supportive friendships.

The summer party featured a children’s entertainer, an ice cream van, bubbles, children’s tattoos, snacks, and music, creating a fun and festive atmosphere for all attendees.

Abode Living recognises the importance of building relationships within communities, especially for those who have moved to a new location and may not yet have a local support network. The summer party was an opportunity to foster social inclusion and create a sense of belonging among residents.

For many families living on low incomes, entertaining children throughout the school holidays can be financially challenging. Events like the summer party provide valuable experiences for families who might otherwise struggle to afford such activities. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.  Residents remarked, "The party was great. Brandy did a great job. Lovely to see so many children having fun. The entertainer was brilliant, and the ice cream van was a lovely touch. Thank you" and "It's great to see all the events that are being organised for Imperial Apartments."

Another parent shared, "Brilliant idea, my daughter loved it. Amazing that this is offered quite literally downstairs from where I live. This is truly amazing, and my daughter and I very much look forward to attending anything else in the future."

Brandusa Rotaru, Community Engagement Officer at Abode Living in Bristol, commented, "Events like our summer party are crucial in building a strong, supportive community. Seeing the joy on the children's faces and hearing the positive feedback from parents reinforces our commitment to creating inclusive, engaging environments for all our residents.  I really hope the positive response to this encourages more residents to get involved in the numerous events we have planned so we can foster long-lasting friendships and a supportive community."

Abode Living provides secure, quality converted apartments with extensive amenities, including a gym, co-working spaces, a well-equipped soft play area, and a large all-weather outdoor playground. Additionally, at no extra charge, tenants are supported with social programmes, a community engagement officer who arranges a host of events, mental health support, and skills workshops. This investment in people is at the heart of Abode’s mission of “making lives better”.
